A report of the two-day Summit held on the 2nd and 3rd of November 2000, organised jointly by Boston College, The Corporate Responsibility Group, the DTI and The Smith Institute. With Corporate Social Responsibility increasingly been seen as an integral part of business best practice, and a key factor in enhancing business competitiveness. The Summit focused on the role the Government has to play in encouraging business to adopt a social ethical and environmentally responsible approach. The summit also looked at identifying areas so far missing from the CSR debate, in an effort to progress the ongoing debate. A wide range of speakers included Government Ministers, academics and representatives of the business community.
