Edited by John Wilson

A seminar held on 22nd September 1999, at which the main speaker was Steve Morrison, Chief Executive of Granada Media Group. In developing the idea of ‘digital citizenship’, he outlined the opportunities that digital television offers both the Government and the British people. He gave examples in the areas of education, health and the provision of advice and government services and drew attention to the potential bearing on issues of social exclusion. A discussion that brought together policy makers and those in the broadcasting industry was followed by a brief look forward by the Financial Secretary to the Treasury, Stephen Timms MP.
